Making an early start for lifelong oral health
We recommend you start bringing your child to see us from an early age, ideally as soon as their baby teeth start to come through. This encourages positive attitudes to visit the dentist and the development of good oral hygiene habits. All too often, adults describe unpleasant dental experiences in childhood that have negatively affected their attitude to receiving dental treatment. To avoid this, we try to make your child’s experience as stress-free as possible.
In line with our overall approach to dentistry, prevention is key when it comes to looking after your children’s teeth, so we offer advice and support to ensure they receive effective oral care. As well as brushing and diet advice, we also offer fluoride varnish applications and fissure sealants to help protect teeth from decay.
If additional treatment is required, it will be carried out as carefully and comfortably as possible. All our dentists have children of their own and plenty of experience of working with younger patients.
We are also proud to support Childsmile, a publicly funded programme that aims to improve the dental health of all children in Scotland.
